Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)
The PEI PNP is Prince Edward Island’s Provincial Nominee Program. Through this program, immigrants with the skills and experience targeted by PEI may receive a Provincial Nomination Certificate, after which they can apply for Canadian permanent residence.
The PEI PNP accepts applications under three major immigration categories:
- PEI PNP Express Entry
- Labour Impact Category
- Business Impact Category
PEI PNP Express Entry
This category enables the province to nominate skilled candidates with job offers through the federal Express Entry immigration selection system. Prospective immigrants who have been accepted into the federal Express Entry pool may be able to apply to the PEI Express Entry Skilled Worker category.
Individuals nominated by the PEI PNP will receive additional points under the CRS POINTS SYSTEM, resulting in an Invitation to Apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Labour Impact Category
The province accepts applications from those who possess skills and experience that are in demand in PEI’s labour market.
There are three streams under this cateogry:
Skilled Worker Stream
This stream is for workers who have been identified or hired by an employer in PEI. To qualify, an individual must be either currently working in PEI or have a job offer from an employer in PEI.
Eligible applicants work in a skilled profession and possess the right experience and post-secondary degree or diploma at least.
Critical Worker Stream
This is for workers who have already been hired by an employer in PEI and whose employer would like to sponsor them for permanent residency. Eligible applicants can work either in a semi-skilled or unskilled profession.
International Graduate Stream
This stream is for recent graduates from accredited PEI universities and colleges who have already been hired by a PEI employer.
Eligible applicants will work in a skilled profession in their field of study.
Business Impact Category
Work Permit Stream
This stream is for individuals who want to invest in a PEI business. They will first receive a work permit prior to receiving a provincial nomination for PEI. During their time on a work permit, applicants are expected to begin working in Canada and to learn about the business that they will be investing.
Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
PEI is one of four Atlantic provinces working in partnership with the Canadian government to hire foreign workers to fill jobs in Atlantic Canada that have not been filled locally. Foreign nationals interested in participating in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot may be residing abroad or on temporary status in Canada at the time of applying.
All applicants to the pilot must have a job offer from a designated employer that meets the requirements of the program.
